Summer Lovin - Had me a Blast!

I fell in love this weekend - with an 18 month old name Lily :)

Austin and I went to South Carolina to visit his family for their annual Tug McGraw Brain Cancer Foundation Benefit in honor of his late uncle, and his cousin's daughter Lily was just too precious. We stayed at her house (last year I stayed at Lily's aunt's house - but there are 6 girls between the ages of 2-16 in that house so not much room for austin and me) so I got to see Lily first thing in the morning when she wiped the sleep out of her eyes and ran into my arms, all the way until it was bed time...what fun she was!

The whole weekend was fun. We flew into Jacksonville Wednesday afternoon where Brian was initially supposed to pick us up. The army changed his plans, thus changing my plans (a trend in my life) so instead of spending the evening with Brian we spent the evening alone. Turned out very nice because we don't know when she next time will be that we will have the opportunity to take a vacation for US. Our vacations seems to revolve around people's weddings, reunions, or our parents hounding us that they haven't seen us so we try to run to Houston and cram as many people into as little time as possible. So it was nice to have a day away just for us. I had gotten a gift card to Ruth's Chris (one of the best steakhouses EVER) from Western Union, so we went out to dinner there in Jacksonville right on the water - it was absolutely beautiful. When I wasn't outside I briefly thought "I could live here" Then I'd step outside and be reminded (times ten) why I dislike Houston so much - HUMIDITY! Thursday morning we walked on the beach for an hour or two playing in the water, writing our names in the sand and collecting cool shells before we drove up to Charleston where we met his parents.

We stayed in Charleston the rest of the weekend spending time with Austin's Aunt Cindy, cousins Kelly and Ryan, their spouses Kevin and Shannon, and the 7 girls...Cameron, Nicole, Kelsey, Brittany, Sherrie, Brooke, and Lily. We also got to see Granny some, and then on Friday Brian drove up from Savannah after his Field Training ended. I was SO excited to see him and we had so much fun. I would have sobbed saying bye at the airport but I'm holding out hope that it wasn't the last time I'll see him before he deploys in October.

I would post some pictures, but I'm writing this at work so the pictures aren't on this computer. Also, I haven't technically told anyone about this blog yet - so if you're reading it, you're a major stalker :) just kidding, I've told a few. still want to get it all cute and organized before I announce it to the public - blogs have come a long way since I had one in college, gotta keep up with the Jones' (or Allens hehehe) and have a cute one!

that was our pre-July 4th celebration. Hope everyone has a wonderful Independence Day weekend - hug a soldier, sailor, airman or marine and thank them for defending our freedom!!!

Joining the Ranks

Well, everyone seems to have family blogs these days...and I love to read all about my friends, their pets and kids and activities...so I figured it's only fair if I do the same :)

I'm still trying to figure out the whole aspect of customization, changing the template and format and all that, so bear with me! Once I get it all worked out, maybe I'll start updating everyone on the life of the Wallis family (not that is THAT exciting...but may be some good boredom-reading)

Check back soon!
